Knee

Knee issues are common problems many Australian’s face daily, resulting in pain, soreness, inflammation and in some cases, this can restrict our ability to safely participate in sports or exercise. Thankfully, at Murdoch Orthopaedic Clinic, we’re home to several knee specialists who have the knowledge, skills and expertise to treat patients and perform knee replacement surgery in Perth.

There are many people across the globe who experience knee pain, however, when this pain begins to interfere with your daily life, it may be time to consider taking appropriate action in order to rectify these issues. Depending on the extent of your knee pain and condition, your doctor may suggest knee surgery as an option for you. Knee surgery can greatly improve the function of your knee and help to reduce associated symptoms and pain.

Our knee specialist in Perth will discuss your options with you and assist you throughout your treatment. Like most surgical procedures, there are some risks; however, as this procedure has been performed numerous times by our knee surgeons, the surgery itself is considered relatively safe. For any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team.

At Murdoch Orthopaedic Clinic, our knee specialists in Perth treat an array of different knee conditions, from ACL ruptures to full knee replacement surgery. Common conditions we treat include, but are not limited to:

  • Meniscal tears – these are common knee injuries to the meniscus, a C-shaped disc which cushions the knee. The main function of the menisci in your knees is to balance the body’s weight evenly. Our knee surgeons in Perth may suggest undergoing surgery to repair the tear.
  • ACL rupture – one of the knee’s four main ligaments connecting the femur to the tibia is the ACL. Tearing or rupturing this ligament can be extremely painful and can immediately restrict movement in the knee. In order to regain an adequate level of function, we suggest visiting one of our knee specialists in Perth.
  • Patella dislocation – also known as a dislocation of the kneecaps, this can occur from a sudden twist or blow to the knee resulting in intense pain.
  • Full knee replacement – full knee replacement involves replacing all parts of the knee including the medial, lateral parts and kneecap. Our doctors at Murdoch Orthopaedic Clinic can perform this kind of knee surgery in Perth.
  • Partial knee replacement – unlike a full knee replacement, a partial knee replacement will either replace the medial, lateral or kneecap parts of the knee.
  • Non-operative management of arthritis of the knee – our knee surgeons can advise you as to which treatment options are best suited to you.
  • Patellofemoral pain – Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is identified as knee pain located at the back of the kneecap and ranges from severe to mild discomfort.

If you’re looking for an orthopaedic clinic with over 170 years of combined knowledge and expertise, look no further. Our knee surgeons are experts in their fields and have seen many patients about their knees. If you would like to book an appointment to see one of our doctors or for more detailed information on all conditions related to the knee, please do not hesitate to contact us today!
